Where the Myth Meets the Physics

The Circle & The Line

Our states of being — and the two motions of Inner Gravity.

The threads are what we are made of. The weavers are who we are. The Circle and the Line are how we are — the states we live in and pass between, hour by hour and season by season.

And beneath the states, there is a force.

Gravity only ever produces two motions. A body held by a center orbits. A body pulled toward a center it has not yet reached moves in a line.

The myth and the physics are describing the same thing.

You are in one of these motions right now. This page is for learning to recognize which.

The State of Return

The Circle

In the physics: the orbit

The Circle is presence without direction — wholeness without edge. It holds. It returns. It is the breath between breaths, the rest that makes rhythm possible.

In gravitational terms, the Circle is a life held by a center: a meaning with enough gravity to keep you in return around it. You circle what matters. You integrate. The Circle is where the body digests what the Line has lived.

You may be in orbit when
The body asks for rest before the mind agrees. Old images and memories return, asking to be revisited. Being with people matters more than getting anywhere. Your days keep circling the same center — and it still feeds you.
Its shadow · the decayed orbit

The Circle, never broken, becomes a loop — a comfort that hardens into stagnation, a returning that forgets why it returns. An orbit around a center that stopped giving light long ago.

The State of Becoming

The Line

In the physics: the trajectory

The Line is direction, choice, change — spirit pulled into form. It carves rivers through stone. It says: you are becoming. You are capable. You must move.

In gravitational terms, the Line is a life falling toward a center it has not yet reached: a new meaning whose pull has grown stronger than the old orbit’s hold. You are crossing. You are in transit between centers.

You may be in trajectory when
A desire has appeared and will not leave you alone. The familiar has begun to feel too small. The body wakes with momentum it wants to spend. Something ahead of you has more pull than everything behind you.
Its shadow · the centerless line

The Line, never softened, becomes a race — a climb with no summit, a striving that burns through the very meaning it was reaching for. Motion with nothing to fall toward: not becoming, only fleeing.

What holds the Circle? What pulls the Line?

Inner Gravity —
the force of accumulated meaning.

Every orbit in your life is held by a center of meaning: a person, a story, an identity, a wound, a love. Every trajectory is a fall toward a meaning gathering weight. To know your state, find your center. To find your center is the whole work of Inner Gravity.

Reading Your State

Neither state is better. Neither is home.

The trouble begins when we are in one state while demanding the other of ourselves — forcing the Line’s pace on a body asking for the Circle, or hiding in the Circle’s comfort when the Line is calling.

So the orientation begins with a few honest questions:

Which motion is my body in right now? What center am I orbiting — and does it still give light? What am I falling toward — and is it a center, or only an escape? Am I resting, or am I hiding? Am I becoming, or am I fleeing?

The answers change. That is not a failure of the practice. That is the practice.

A life is neither the Circle nor the Line.

It is the sacred tension between them —
the return and the reaching,
the holding and the becoming.

Every breath is a meeting of the two. To weave is to move between the motions on purpose — to orbit when the center still feeds you, to leave when a truer center calls, and to know the difference.

Two Motions, Two Doors

This part of the site is built the way a life is built. Each door is one of the motions, offered as a path.

These motions have a story. Before there was a practice, there was the myth of Zero and One — the founding myth this whole work stands on.
