Soma Flow

A practice of feeling the body from the inside out — precise, technical work within the body, with flow and stretch woven into the breath.

Where It Comes From

Soma Flow was born at the barre. Thirty years of ballet taught me two things that rarely get taught together. The first is technical: the body rewards precision — alignment, articulation, the exact placement of weight. The second is deeper: all of that precision is really a training in attention. You learn to feel the body from the inside out, not watch it from the outside in.

Soma Flow keeps both. It is technical work in the body — specific, careful, anatomically honest — held inside a practice of interoception: sensing breath, weight, and sensation from within. And then movement is added the way it should be: flow and stretch carried on the breath, so the body opens because it is breathing, not because it is being pushed.

You do not watch the body from outside.
You inhabit it — and it begins to speak.

The Shape of a Practice

Every Soma Flow practice moves through the same three-part arc — and if you have read the myth of the Circle and the Line, you will recognize its shape:

Feel

From the inside out. Settling into breath, weight, and sensation until you are sensing the body from within it. The Circle's work.

Work

Technically, in the body. Alignment, articulation, precise placement — attention made physical. The Line's work.

Flow

Stretch and movement added to the breath, so opening rides the exhale instead of forcing it. The Weave.

Where the Sky Comes In

There is astrology in Soma Flow, but not where you might expect it. It lives in the music. Each practice is scored to the current sky — the season's astrological weather chosen as sound, so the mood of the moment surrounds the work without a word of explanation.

You do not need to know any astrology. The body works technically; the music carries the vibe; and somewhere between them, the season moves through you. Those who read charts will hear what the playlist is doing. Those who don't will simply feel it — which was always the point.

Who It Is For

Soma Flow is for the one who can say it but cannot yet live it — the person who has read the books, done the naming, understands their patterns in language, and still feels the knowing stop at the neck. It requires no dance background, no flexibility, no performance. The only instrument is the body you already have.

It is also for the one who has been moving all along — dancers, yogis, athletes — who knows technique from the outside and wants to learn it again from within.

This is not exercise with symbolism attached. It is symbolic literacy practiced in the medium where you first learned it: the moving body.

The Forms It Takes

Soma Flow is a live class, first. We meet Tuesdays at 10am in Granby, Massachusetts, and on Zoom for those practicing from elsewhere — one room, one breath, wherever your mat is.

Alongside the class, a growing library of recordings: Moon Sign Flows, a complete flow for the moon in each of the twelve signs, so you can practice with the sky of the day or with your own natal moon — and Planet Body Work, targeted practices for the part of the body each planet governs. All of it lives behind one door.

The body already knows the way.
The practice is remembering how to follow it.
