The Body Thread · Reiki & Energy Work

Where the body remembers what the mind has forgotten

Reiki and embodied energy work for those navigating burnout, depletion, and the quiet exhaustion of being too long in the mind. Available in person and online.

Foundation

What were they all noticing?

Across centuries and cultures, human beings have encountered experiences that exceed ordinary conceptual language — and developed symbolic systems to describe them. Ki in Japan. Prana in the Vedic traditions. Chi in China. Ether and pneuma in Greece. Akasha. Spirit.

This practice does not assume these words name an identical substance. It asks a more interesting question: what were human beings noticing, again and again, that caused these languages to emerge?

Not belief, but practice — something to be experienced and investigated, not proven in advance.

Three Threads

I

The Field

Akasha in Sanskrit, Ether in Greek philosophy — different traditions' names for an invisible, connecting medium. Whatever these languages were reaching for, they agree on one thing: you are not separate from what surrounds you.

II

The Current

Ki, Prana, Chi — the recurring human experience of a current of vitality that can be full or depleted. Burnout is not a mindset problem. In this language, it is the current running low.

III

The Body

The body is not a vessel for the mind — it is an intelligence of its own. Embodied practice returns awareness from thought back into sensation, breath, and presence.

The threads that connect it all

Long before science named the nervous system, traditions across the world were already working with it — mapping the rivers of energy that run through the body, listening to the intelligence that lives below language.

In Greek philosophy, Ether was the fifth classical element — the substance of the heavens, the invisible medium that held everything together. In Vedic tradition, Akasha holds the same role: the primordial space from which all matter arises, through which sound and vibration first move. Different words. The same listening.

Reiki is a practice built inside this language. The Level II tradition works not only through touch but across space — in its own account, because the field it describes has no distance. Its symbols are a sacred language: form given to what words could not hold. I offer the practice as I was taught it, and I hold its metaphysics the way I hold all maps — as ways of looking, tested against what actually happens in a session.

Embodied practice meets this from another angle. When we are burned out, we are often living almost entirely in the mind — above the neck, in thought, in future, in pressure. The body has been left behind. Somatic and embodied work doesn't fix this intellectually. It returns you — through sensation, breath, presence — to the intelligence that was always there.

These are not separate traditions bolted together. They are different threads of the same cloth — the cloth this school is named for.

You don't have to keep running on empty.
