An Education in Possibility

Most of us have been taught to recognize the world by naming it.

We learn what things are, what they mean, where they belong, and what we are supposed to become.

But naming is only one way of knowing.

There is also noticing. Sensing. Questioning. Moving. Relating. Imagining. Creating.

The School at Infinite Threads is a place to practice these capacities.

Here, learning is not simply the accumulation of information. It is the development of perception, the ability to recognize patterns, encounter different perspectives, and participate more consciously in the world we are helping to create.

We begin with what is already available to us: attention, language, imagination, the body, and the living world.

And we proceed through Passages.

What Is a Passage?

A Passage is an invitation into a different way of experiencing and understanding the world.

Each Passage brings together ideas, practices, stories, and opportunities for discovery. Some draw from psychology and philosophy. Others explore mythology, symbolic language, movement, ecology, and the relationship between the body and meaning.

They are not tests to pass or identities to acquire.

They are ways of learning to see.

You may enter a Passage for the first time and return years later to discover that the questions have changed because you have changed.

The purpose is not to arrive at a final answer.

It is to develop the capacity to encounter what you do not yet know.

The First Passage

Learning to See What Moves

Before we can recognize new possibilities, we must learn to notice what is already happening.

We often experience the world through conclusions.

I am this. They are that. This is how things work. This is who I have always been.

But beneath every description, something is moving.

A thought is forming. A body is responding. A relationship is changing. A story is being repeated, questioned, or rewritten.

The First Passage explores two foundational practices: Thinking in Verbs and Sacred Attention.

Together, they invite us to move from fixed definitions toward living processes, and from automatic interpretation toward conscious observation.

What happens when we stop asking only what something is and begin asking what it does?

Thinking in Verbs is an introduction to understanding ourselves and the world through action, movement, relationship, and transformation.

Rather than treating identity, emotion, and meaning as fixed objects, we begin to explore the processes that create and sustain them.

Through language, stories, everyday observations, and reflective exercises, we practice recognizing what is moving beneath the names.

A different grammar can reveal a different possibility.

Sacred Attention

What becomes possible when we learn to notice without immediately deciding what something means?

Sacred Attention explores the practice of bringing deliberate, receptive awareness to ordinary experience.

We investigate how attention shapes perception, how expectation influences what we notice, and how the body participates in our understanding of the world.

Through observation, sensory awareness, reflection, and simple embodied practices, we begin to distinguish what we experience from the stories we tell about it.

Sacred does not mean separate from everyday life.

It means approaching what is here as worthy of our attention.

Learning Through Participation

The School is not built around the idea that a teacher possesses meaning and a student receives it.

Knowledge matters. Research matters. Discernment matters.

But understanding also develops through participation.

You will be invited to observe, question, experiment, write, move, and encounter perspectives beyond your own.

The practices are intended to travel with you into ordinary life: your conversations, relationships, work, creative pursuits, and the ways you understand yourself.

There is no requirement to adopt a particular belief system.

You are encouraged to test what you encounter, notice what holds up to experience, and remain curious about what does not.

Coherence is not the same as truth. An interpretation is not the same as an observation.

These distinctions are part of the practice.

The Passages Will Continue to Open

The First Passage is only the beginning.

Future Passages will explore the body as a way of knowing, the language of symbols and myth, the stories through which we construct identity, the rhythms of time, and the creative possibilities that emerge through relationship.

Each will offer a different entrance into the same enduring inquiry:

What becomes possible when we learn to participate in the world differently?

The first classes, Thinking in Verbs and Sacred Attention, are currently in development.

In the meantime, you are invited to explore the writing, reflections, and symbolic practices already unfolding through Infinite Threads.

You do not have to wait for a class to begin paying attention.

The School is a living work. The Passages will open as they are ready.
